Guitarist/composer/music educator Jeff Putterman lives in Portland, Oregon. A jazz guitar instructor at Portland State University from 2004 to present, Jeff was formerly on faculty at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, and at Lewis & Clark College in Portland. In addition Jeff’s career includes twenty years of teaching guitar classes and directing bands in Portland metro area schools. Jeff’s educational background has been both extensive and varied, having earned a BA degree in Philosophy from the University of Maine, a guitar performance degree from the Musicians Institute, and an MAT in music from Lewis & Clark College. Jeff also credits his early mentors, the late Larry Wooldridge and bebop master Joe Diorio.
Jeff has performed as a solo artist, guitarist/accompanist, and band leader. His recordings span four decades and present a unique mix of original compositions that blend classic and progressive jazz and eclectic music styles. Titles include: Needle At The Bottom Of The Sea(1981), Hand Made(1983), Fast & Narrow Tracks(1997), You Are What You Are(2009). Jeff’s latest release, Solo 7String 2020 was recorded on 7string classical guitar and features a new collection of creative compositions.
